Bathmate Hydromax 7 Review
My Verdict
Offering 35% more pumping power than the original Bathmate Hydro7, the Bathmate Hydromax7 keeps simplicity alive while increasing performance. There are a few quality of life improvements that make this pump much more enjoyable, and the price is still fairly competitive compared to more premium offerings. Whether you want to start your pumping journey with something a bit nicer or simply want to upgrade from your older model, the Bathmate Hydromax7 is definitely a penis pump worth checking out.

Overall, the device uses the same simple, manual pumping of the base model. However, it also offers a few upgrades over the base model, making it more effective in practice and easier to clean after the fact.

Personal Experience
With several upgrades over the original model such as increased suction power and a removable base, the Bathmate Hydromax7 is a great option for beginners and intermediate-level penis pump users alike. Still, like any type of toy, there are a few things I’d like to see changed.
First Impressions
Like other Bathmate products, the box for the Bathmate Hydromax7 comes inside of a plain white box. The outside of the actual Bathmate Hydromax7 box is mainly black, complete with white lettering and orange highlights. The box features a drawing of the pump on the front, a ruler on one side, a list of features on the other side, and a general description on the back (in nine different languages). The box seemed nearly empty aside from the pump, though, with only a manual, a jelqing guide, and some jelq serum inside. Unfortunately, it appears that this model doesn’t offer its own storage solution.Using the Pump
Having already tried the base model, I was eager to see the difference(s) between the models. First things first: I had to try it without any water. I’m not quite sure if it’s actually 35% more powerful, but the Bathmate Hydromax7 is definitely strong enough to use without water. That said, I do think it’s worth noting that the device is much more comfy to use with water. Visually, it looks nearly identical. The Bathmate Hydromax7 features a capped end, a clear body, black bellows, and a “ruler” on the side of the pump. However, there is one major change here. The base is now removable for easy cleaning. While I don’t personally find it as comfortable, it does seem much more sturdy than the foam ring on the base model. The bellows on this model seem to be about the same thickness as on the Hydro7. Still, they definitely provide a lot more “push”, resulting in more suction. That’s not the only difference, though, as the cap has also been upgraded. Rather than being push only, the cap on the Hydromax7 moves from side to side. I can appreciate this, as it makes it much easier to open and close the cap. This might seem small, but it comes in handy when it’s time to fill the penis pump with water. Overall, I was pretty happy with this one. I was still able to push the device to maximum suction, but it did start to get uncomfortable. Bear in mind that this is coming from someone who never uses pumps. As such, I think that the suction power should be enough for the average user.Design
The Bathmate Hydromax7 is a very plain device, which is perfectly fine (as function matter more than form). It doesn't look cheap, but it doesn't look expensive either. The majority of the device consists of the clear tube, although red and blue models are offered as well. The bellows appear to be made of some sort of rubber, as is the removable base. Both the bellows and the base have a marker on them, which makes it easy to properly line the two up. As mentioned above, I definitely like the side-to-side switch on the end of the cap. It's a big improvement over the original push-button design.
Ease of Use
Despite being an upgraded model, the Bathmate Hydromax7 is still very easy to use. All you really need to do is fill the device with water, press it up against your body, and start pumping! When it comes time to take the thing off, the top can be pushed for a quick release of pressure. It does still feature the "ruler" on the side of the tube, which won't be much use if you value accuracy. Still, it does at least give you a very rough idea of whether or not you're getting bigger. While I wouldn't recommend trying to use this with one hand, you probably could, thanks to the upgraded cap. However, since the bellows are a bit more resistant, pushing it on securely with one hand might pose an issue.
Quality
I'll give Bathmate credit. Their quality is definitely consistent! Overall, the Hydromax7 feels and looks nearly identical to the lower model in terms of quality. However, the addition of the removable base does help put it slightly above the lower model. While I personally found the foam base more comfortable, the removable one does seem to be sturdier. This is important, as it means the entire device will likely long outlast the warranty period. Also, so long as you have a good seal, the product can be used nearly silently. The only real noise it makes is when water is jetted out from the top, but this noise is easily ignored in the shower!
Price
Depending on the size you need, the Hydromax could be anywhere from $20 to $90 more expensive than the Hydro7 model. If you get the same size then you can expect to pay $40 more for the upgraded version, with an extra $20 on top if you opt for the "Wide" version. I think this price is worth it if you don't already have a Bathmate penis pump. If you do, though, I think it might be worth saving up for the HydroXtreme model instead. The toy doesn't offer any accessories or major upgrades, making it somewhat hard to justify the price increase. For this price, it definitely would be nice to see a carrying bag, even if it was a cheap one.
Performance
The Bathmate Hydromax7 performed above my expectations. To be fair, I wasn't quite sure to expect beyond it would be "more powerful" than the base model. Still, the increase in power was definitely noticeable, especially with the toy finally being able to be used without water. To be fair, using water still gives a massive performance boost over using the device with air alone, but it's nice to have options nonetheless. The cap switch is a great QoL upgrade, and the removable base is convenient for cleaning. Really, the only disappointment is the comfort factor, which I felt was slightly lower when compared to the base model.
Packaging
The packaging on the Bathmate Hydromax7 is fairly minimalistic, but it does a good job at showcasing the product. It would definitely be too flashy if it was by itself, but thankfully, Bathmate packs their pumps inside of a plain white box for privacy. The outside of the box tells you the benefits of using the Hydromax7. However, it doesn't mention any selling points in big print. You have to dig into the small text on the back to find important details, such as the pump being "skin safe, latex free, [and] phthalate free .
Materials and care
The materials are "skin safe", although it doesn't tell you whether or not the product is non-porous. Thankfully, this shouldn't be much of an issue as the Bathmate Hydromax7 is intended for external use only. Weight-wise, it feels nearly the same as the Hydro7. Despite that, it still feels very sturdy. I do like the different textures featured on this toy, from the smooth plastic tubing to the grippy bellows and base at the bottom. Being designed for use in water, this pump is completely waterproof, which makes cleaning the thing extremely easy. The only thing that might be a pain is waiting for it to dry, although you can certainly speed this process up using a fan or a towel.
