Bijoux Indiscrets Slow Sex Clitoral Balm Review

My Verdict
I was not ready for this balm! I've tried clitoral arousal serums before, but this one was much more powerful than others I've experienced, and I'll tell you know that it was a bit much for me. The 'warming' sensation was more like burning, and though that did subside to leave an aroused feeling, I wasn't in too much of a hurry to experience that again. With so many people online absolutely loving it, I hesitate to give it a negative review, but I recommend that you figure out what you enjoy and what you're looking for before you take the plunge.

Personal Experience

My main reason for trying out the Slow Sex Clitoral Balm was to try and find a replacement for my current clitoral arousal serum, the oil-based Sensuva ON. That one works great, but I’m hesitant to use it in case it reacts badly with my silicone sex toys or with condoms. This one from Bijoux Indiscrets is water-based, which is safer for that kind of thing, and after trying and loving other products of theirs, I had high hopes!
A Burning Desire
I first tried out the Slow Sex balm with my partner. My favorite time to use this kind of product is when I’m a bit tired or distracted and the arousal isn’t happening as fast as I’d like it to. Going slow can be fun, but sometimes I just get frustrated, so I enjoy having a helping hand. Opening the tube, I was met with a very nice scent of coconut, which I loved. Then, I applied a small amount, half of a pea-sized blob. I was expecting a similar sensation to when I’ve used Sensuva ON in the past — a slow increase in blood flow and a feeling of arousal growing quite deep within. However, that was not what happened. Instead, there was an immediate burning sensation that was actually pretty unpleasant. Rather than being more aroused, I felt more distracted than before and just wanted to wipe it off. However, in the name of science, I tried it again by myself so I could more accurately describe what was going on. Again, the burning sensation was instantaneous and unpleasant, but within a minute or so it had mostly subsided. After that, I did feel more blood flow to the area and could tell more lubrication was happening, so it was doing its job, but just I didn’t love it as much as the Sensuva ON experience.Design

There's not too much to say about the design of the tube, since it's pretty basic. I like that it's minimalistic and doesn't go for the gaudy, porn-esque designs that many other arousal gels do. However, I wish that it had a pump applicator or something similar, as I had a bit of trouble with losing the cap when applying it and then having more of the product leak out.
Ease of Use

This balm is very easy to use, but be warned that you don't need much! If you're a newbie, I would recommend going with a very tiny blob and then adding very small amounts if you need to. As I mentioned above, the tube can be a little annoying, but it's still very simple.
Quality

Like everything I've tried from Bijoux Indiscrets, the Slow Sex Clitoral Balm is very high quality. All of the elements, from the packaging to the tube to the formula, are all well-made. It may seem like a given, but I appreciate that they have listed all the ingredients and are dedicated to making body-safe formulas and being transparent with their customers.
Price

At $17, I would say that this balm comes in at around the same price as other clitoral arousal gels. Whether it's worth it for you will depend entirely on what you're looking for. It is cheaper than my personal favorite, the Sensuva ON oil, but it didn't give me the sensation I was really looking for. However, if you enjoy the feeling of warming or tingling, then this may be your perfect fit.
Performance

This balm has stunning reviews on Bijoux Indiscrets' website, with the vast majority saying that they loved the product and the sensations it gave them. Seeing as they do advertise it as a warming balm, I'm guessing that that's exactly what those reviewers were looking for, but it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I like something a bit more subtle, though it did do exactly what it promised!
Packaging

They've gone with the classic 'orchid representing the clitoris' motif on the packaging, but I do think it's quite pretty. It's not overly subtle, especially with the words 'Slow Sex' on the front, but it's a nice unboxing experience and is also completely recyclable.
Materials and care

The Slow Sex Clitoral Balm has a water-based formula that is skin-safe, non-staining and safe to use with silicone and latex. However, the warming effect may cause some irritation if you have particularly sensitive skin, so keep that in mind and only use small amounts if you're concerned.
