Fifty Shades of Grey Spreader Bar Review
My Verdict
While the Fifty Shades of Grey 'Bound to you' Spreader Bar may not be the first choice for the complete beginner, I do think that many couples will absolutely adore the look and feel of it. Even though it was my first time using one, it really elevated our experience together, and, in a way, it's great that you can use whichever cuffs you prefer with it! If you have a little cash to splash, I say go for it.

Personal Experience
Upon opening the package, I was immediately impressed by how beautiful this spreader bar was and how smoothly the snap swivels operate. After a quick discussion about who got to try it out first, we headed for the bedroom and got down to giving it a thorough test. At first I was skeptical about whether or not it would feel all that different to be spread by a bar rather than remaining open and willing. As soon as I was clipped in, I realized that handing the control over to your partner adds a new element, even if you are quite used to each other. The bar clipped into the cuffs I chose easily and stayed in place throughout our session. The bar is well wrapped and I was pleased to discover that my ankles and wrists were well protected from any harsh metal edges.
Design
Right out of the package, it is clear that the Fifty Shades of Grey Spreader Bar is made with luxury in mind. The sleek leather wrap is beautiful and features crisp gold lettering with the brand name. The leather wrap features internal stitching that adds to the pleasing aesthetic. The wrap covers the entire bar and prevents the internal metal structure from digging into the user's wrists or ankles. Gold detailed rivets and swivel snaps complete the sleek design.
Ease of Use
The Fifty Shades of Grey Spreader Bar is straight-forward and easy to use. The brass snaps open with relative ease allowing a partner to connect the snaps to ankle and wrist restraints without taking too much time away from play. All four of the snaps swivel smoothly without any snags which makes clipping the bar into place a breeze. There are no additional moving pieces to the bar which makes for a beginner-friendly, easy to use toy.
Quality
The bar is very lightweight and, at at a distance, looks like a luxury item. The wrap material is made of faux leather so under heavy use the attachment points may start to wear quickly. The brass snaps are all high quality and are free of snags or burs which allows the snaps to function smoothly. The rivets are also brass and should hold up very well even under heavy use. All of the stitching on the product is flawless and is done with a high quality, heavy duty thread.
Price
The Fifty Shades of Grey Spreader Bar is a priced a bit higher than most of the other bars offering similar quality. The bar looks stunning and is sure to attract series fans but some of the higher price tag is justified only by the brand name. The bar does not come with wrist or ankle restraints which are necessary to use the toy. While the bar is not outrageously priced, other products without the designer name are more competitively priced.
Performance
The bar is easy to use and adds quite a bit of excitement to the bedroom. The 50 Shades of Grey Spreader Bar does its job well and keeps your partner spread and waiting for your attentions. It is relatively short so users do not experience any discomfort or fatigue at having their limbs uncomfortable restrained. Some users may find the bar to be shorter than preferred as the bar is short enough that you can reach the wrist restraint with your other hand, meaning the sub is capable of freeing themselves if desired.
Packaging
The exterior packaging was actually somewhat disappointing and although it does not detract from the toy, it is slightly disappointing given the beautiful aesthetic of the rest of the packaging and product. The exterior package was a brown thick paper sleeve with the logo name printed on one end. Inside the package is a beautiful black silky storage bag with a draw string. The storage bag also featuring the brand name, this time in beautiful gold lettering. The bag is in line with the luxury appearance featured by the toy itself.
Materials and care
The Fifty Shades of Grey Spreader Bar is made of faux leather and brass. Cleaning is very simple as both can be wiped down as needed with a damp cleaning cloth. The bar is low maintenance and once clean is easy to store in the included drawstring bag. No additional care is needed making for an easy to keep toy.
