We Love a Scented Candle!

Great for Sensual Massage

Not Ideal for “Wax Play”

Design

I really like the design of the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle! It’s very sleek and luxurious with the minimalistic design and the metal lid. Of course, it may not match everyone’s personal style, and I have to admit I prefer a more earthy and natural aesthetic. The look itself can be slightly “sterile”. All this is, of course, just a matter of preference. I am still very impressed by the overall design, and very much appreciate the minimalist look.

Ease of Use

Now, massage candles are notoriously easy to use. Light it, wait for the wax to melt, pour it, and massage into the skin. Simple! However, some massage candles I’ve used in the past have certain design features or formula flaws that make them a lot more tricky to use. In comparison, the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is very easy to use. The viscosity of the wax formula, once melted, is easy to handle as you pour. One thing I would have loved to see is some kind of pouring spout. Pouring the wax onto the skin was actually tricky to do smoothly. You often end up spilling a bit or having some fall-out on the sides of the jar.

Quality

There’s no doubt that the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is a very high quality product. That’s visible in the luxurious design and packaging, as well as the all-natural wax ingredients, and the sensual scents available. My candle arrived slightly damaged with a small crack in the plastic on the green handle. But I’m sure that was due to some issues during shipping or storage and had little to do with the overall quality of the product itself.

Price

I don’t think the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle is totally unreasonably priced. It is a good quality massage candle that obviously also works beautifully as a scented candle. It offers up to 36 hours of burn time (and plenty of massage sessions). Considering that, I think you’ll get a lot of fun out of those 35 bucks! That said, it is one of the more expensive massage candles out there. If you don’t need a candle this big, or you’re just wanting to try something like this out for the first time, you can definitely find some cheaper alternatives out there.

Performance

I think the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle performed really well. I really enjoyed the fact that the high viscosity of the wax formula made it easier to handle when transferring from the candle to the skin. The formula was thick enough to control yet soft enough to easily be massaged into larger areas of the skin. Again, the only thing I think would help make this a better experience is a pouring spout.

Packaging

As always with LELO products, the packaging for the LELO Flickering Touch Massage Candle was really nice. A smooth cardboard box with a lot of internal padding to ensure the safety of the glass. It was very similar to any kind of packaging that holds fragile glass bottles or jars, like perfumes or regular scented candles. It’s very discreet in design without any explicit images or writing.

Materials and care

There isn’t much to keep in mind when maintaining a candle like this. Of course, try to avoid too much candle “tunnelling” or drowning the wick as you go. The candle jar itself is made of black glass, and a metal lid with a hard plastic handle. The wax is made of all-natural soy wax, apricot kernel oil, and shea butter (and linalool, d-limonene, and kexylcinnamaldehyde for the fragrances). The oil washes off easily but also helps retain the skin’s moisture when rubbed in.
