A Mighty but Tiny New Vibe on the Block

A Versatile, Light Little Beast

Design

The Lelo Nea 3 is a visually unique, high-quality feeling toy. The moderately curved design fits easily and comfortably into your hand. The glossy, smooth ABS plastic is a unique feeling against the skin and the toy's material still has enough texture to not slip while in use. The vibe has two slightly raised buttons (the same color as the surrounding plastic), which blend nicely into the overall design of the toy, and I love the hand-drawn-looking floral design on the vibe! The main complaint I have about the design is the vibrations travel into your hand during use; Although I wasn't bothered by the sensation, this fact is something to keep in mind if you don't like the feeling of vibrations traveling into your hand while using a vibe.

Ease of Use

The Lelo Nea 3 is generally a very easy to use vibrator, and I would rank it high on the ease-of-use scale. The vibe is easy to charge, handle, and operate, with only a few exceptions. The vibe requires moderate strength to turn on and off the toy and cycle through the patterns/intensities. I also found I had to initially think about and become accustomed to which button is used for what function. I found the curved, compact design worked well for partner play and different positions, as well as for solo play. For pin-point stimulation, I found the glossy, smooth finish of the vibe's tip easily slid off where I positioned, so I used the vibe for broad stimulation instead. Lastly, the vibes travel to your hand while using the toy, which might be a deterrence from buying the vibe for some.  

Quality

I feel the Lelo Nea is a high-quality product in more ways than one. The vibe looks and feels high-quality with its artistic flower and butterfly design, and the vibe feels luxurious with its glossy, smooth plastic. (The toy comes in dark blue or black, with the first having a silver design and the latter having a gold design). The toy has a significant choice in terms of intensities: The vibe starts at a low murmur all the way up to a high pulse. I find rumbly vibes hard to come by in a mini version and this vibe definitely qualifies as a rumbly powerhouse. The Lelo Nea requires a little more diligence to clean, with the buttons and the charging port having indents or holes in the vibe's ABS plastic body. I find the charging system easy to use and sturdy, because you just insert the charging port into the base (like a typical cell phone charging system).

Price

The Lelo Nea 3 is a moderately priced vibrator (not the cheapest but not the most expensive vibe) and I feel the toy is well-priced given its quality and its uniqueness in the sex toy world. The vibe is marketed as the strongest mini vibrator and although I've seen a few stronger compact vibes (the We-Vibe tango again comes to mind), the Lelo Nea is definitely strong and stronger than many hand-held, small vibes I own. I think the Lelo Nea is unique in its multi-use design: Not only can it be used during solo or partner play easily, I found the vibe can be used and enjoyed on those with penises as well--either as a stand-alone massager or in addition to oral play. Also, to note, the vibe comes with a one-year warranty and a 10-year quality guarantee; The latter means Lelo will pay for 50% of a new vibe if your old Nea fails on you.

Performance

I do feel the Lelo Nea 3 lived up to its promises and exceeded my own personal expectations. In the past, I have reviewed toys that may be beautiful, but they lack the vibes, strength, or multi-use applications. However, the Nea vibe is all three: beautiful, strong and multi-use. In fact, the Nea is indeed one of the strongest rumbly, compact vibes out there. I appreciated how I could use this vibe solo, during partner pay, and on my partner. Furthermore, the device never got hot when I used it, the battery life is 2 hours long, and the charging takes about two hours max. The Lelo website says the vibe is whisper quiet; Although not whisper quiet to my ears, I'd describe the noise between whisper quiet and normal conversation speech--still a quiet vibe, nonetheless.

Packaging

The Lelo Nea comes in a black paper box with a clear window cover and gold word printing on the box itself. The box is made out of thick, sturdy paper with a foam insert inside (where you can nestle the toy for storage). The toy also comes with a silky, black draw-string storage bag. Overall, the packaging isn't the most fancy or eye-catching of boxes and storage bags I've seen a vibe come with, but I still love the simple, pretty packaging the Nea comes in.

Materials and care

The Lelo Nea 3 is made of certified body-safe material; A Lelo representative said this means the product is made of materials which do not create skin reaction or irritation. The material on the Nea is ABS plastic with a glossy UV coating. (The UV coating is a manufacturing process that provides the glossy finish, whereas many ABS plastics on vibes have a matte finish). The vibe is fully waterproof, and to clean the device, you rinse and spray with a toy safe cleaner, then rinse again and allow it to dry. This process of cleaning the vibe is easy! I just recommend using a fine cleaning brush or tool to clean the buttons and around the area of the charging port. (To note, hand creams or silicone-based lubricants may make the Nea feel permanently tacky).
