My Verdict

To be completely honest with you, I don't think the Lora DiCarlo Onda will be making it out of my big sex toy box very often. The warm-up I have to do for it, combined with its fiddly controls, constant adjusting to find the right position, and loudness all makes it a bit too much effort for me to put in regularly. However, I also don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing. If you have the budget and love manual g-spot massage, whether with fingers or a dildo, the Onda could be a super pleasurable and special treat for you. Nothing says self-care like indulging in a luxurious sex toy, right?

Personal Experience

My Personal Experiences with Lora DiCarlo Onda

Let’s get it out there: the Lora DiCarlo Onda is the most expensive sex toy I’ve ever tried. In fact, I was actually a little scared to use it in the beginning! However, my intrigue overcame my fear. The Onda is a come-hither vibrator that delivers manual g-spot massage as well as vibrations, something that sounded way too good to miss. It uses the same robotic stroking technology as the famous Lora DiCarlo Osé 2, which I’ve seen gifs of many times, but never been lucky enough to try out for myself.

Where Are the Vibes?

This is not really a vibrator that you just pick up and orgasm with. For me, anyway, the shaft is too wide to just insert, so I had to warm up a bit beforehand. So, I spent a while familiarizing myself with the controls, and then turned on the vibes to use on my clitoris. The firm, tapered tip was great for this, but the vibrations were surprisingly buzzy, so I had to turn them up quite a bit. Weirdly, though, I also couldn’t find where the vibrations were coming from. The shaft seems to diffuse them a lot, so there isn’t a part where the vibrations are more intense.

A Case of Trial and Error

Now, the bit you’ve all been waiting for! The little nub that strokes up and down the shaft, which, by the way, looks 100% like a tiny alien trying to escape its silicone prison. It takes a bit of experimentation to find the best settings for you, and I’ve been scrolling through the different stroke positions quite a lot as I use it. Since you can’t actually feel touch inside the vagina, it’s hard to tell exactly where it is, and I didn’t have an incredible ‘aha!’ moment of it hitting my g-spot. However, it did eventually start to feel really good — better than toys that just vibrate! With a bit of added clit stimulation, I had some pretty amazing Os. I just wish it wasn’t so loud! The stroking mechanism is super noisy, and I think the gap in the shaft must create more resonance or something, because the vibes are loud, too.

Design

Lora DiCarlo Onda Design

The color of the Lora DiCarlo Onda is, uh, weird. But I actually don't hate it! It certainly doesn't scream sexy, but I do enjoy more neutral tones and designs in sex toys. The shaft has a tapered tip and a more girthy end, tapering down again towards the base. The base itself is round, and is also a stand. Then, finally, within the shaft is the robotic stroking mechanism, which is hidden until you turn it on.

Ease of Use

Lora DiCarlo Onda Ease of Use

The tapered tip of the Onda does make it easier to insert, but you'll still need some warm up, since the shaft gets bigger almost immediately. My biggest issue with this vibrator is the buttons. They're on the base of the shaft, which wasn't natural to me at all, and since there are four of them, they aren't very intuitive to control. Since the Onda isn't a toy I reach for very often, I've had to re-read the instructions quite a few times now. However, once you get into the groove, it's not so bad.

Quality

Lora DiCarlo Onda Quality

Almost everything about the Lora Dicarlo Onda let's you know that it's a quality product. The silicone is silky smooth, it comes with a case and a bag, and the packaging is so luxurious (though more on that later). When you turn it on, both the vibrations and the stroking work perfectly, and feel strong and robust. However, the vibes are a little buzzy.

Price

Lora DiCarlo Onda Price

The price tag of the Onda is pretty staggering, but not that surprising. Lora Dicarlo is a sex toy brand known for creating innovative, high-quality and very expensive products, and the Onda is certainly no exception. While it's not the most pricey in their range, it's definitely on the higher end, which would work for me if this was an absolutely mind-blowing piece of sex tech. However, I didn't love it, and for that reason, I can't fully recommend paying its premium.

Performance

Lora DiCarlo Onda Performance

The Onda took some experimentation, but I have had some great fun with it. The vibes are definitely on the buzzy-side, and are quite diffuse. I like that there are lots of vibration speed settings and stroke patterns, though I generally stuck to the more intense ones. One important thing to note, though, is that this toy is LOUD. The higher vibration settings are fairly noisy on their own, but the stroking is like a whole other level of loud.

Packaging

Lora DiCarlo Onda Packaging

Lora Dicarlo's packaging is so beautiful — I love it. I also feel a bit guilty for loving it, because there's so much packaging that it feels a bit wasteful. It is recyclable, though. Once you take off the outer sleeve, the sturdy box opens up like an accordion, with the Onda in its case on one side. On the other is box containing a storage pouch (made from recycled ocean plastic), a USB magnetic charging cable, an instruction manual and a warranty card.

Materials and care

Lora DiCarlo Onda Materials and care

The Onda is made from medical-grade silicone, which means it passes the same strict FDA standards as silicone used inside the body, and ABS plastic on the base. Both of these materials are non-porous and body-safe. The Onda is also waterproof, and is easily cleaned with a mild, unscented soap and water. When cleaning, take care around the hollow stroker area, and be sure to get into the crevices where the silicone meets the plastic.
