Why I Chose It
This is one of the most exciting restraint kits I have seen; a full door restraint kit with both wrist and ankle restraints! There is so much I love about this kit – I firstly love the aesthetics of it – the leather look with the metal buckles is a recognisable BDSM pairing. I next love the way they are buckled cuffs, that can be tightened and then more securely closed, rather than velcro. It makes it more intense and also secure, knowing that they are unlikely to unbuckle and set me loose. Lastly, I love how the cuffs can be unclipped and and placed on different loops, for a difference in height and distance. This is great for changing the position of the arms and also for shorter people that cannot reach the top of the door!
When using a whole body restraint kit like this, I want to know that it is secure and won’t unbuckle or release my ankles/wrists mid session! That is why the metal clasps and metal buckle is my favourite feature of this set. Our tester Dani loved it as much as I did – “this product will be a must for your bedroom playtime!”
The only downside to this toy is that it contains nickel, of which could be an allergy concern for some people – make sure to double check you’re okay with nickel interaction! Also, the leather cuffs are not the most comfortable and don’t have any cushioning around them, so just bare that in mind if you are planning on using them for an extended length of time.

Why I Chose It
The Over-the-Door Restraints from Bondage Boutique is the easiest set of cuffs you could possibly find. They are comfortable, affordable, and 100% beginner-friendly. They are made with soft polyester and padded for extra comfort, plus I really like the velcro on the cuffs. It means no matter if you’re just dipping your toes into the whole BDSM vibe or you’re already deep into it, these cuffs feel great. They’re soft, they’re secure, and they don’t mess around. Honestly, it’s the simplicity, and affordability that makes these restraints a solid pick for me.
I think those who want to dip their toes in bondage play will appreciate the use of polyester and velcro for extra comfort. Yet, if you are into a more intense BDSM set of cuffs, I would certainly opt for buckle straps rather than velcro straps, possibly even straps that clock with a padlock! I would personally prefer a sexier, more heavy-duty design, but I think it looks nice for such an affordable price. One of my favourite features about these cuffs is that they can be unbuckled and released, so that they can be used with other cuffs on bed restraints, for example.
Our tester Cierra had no complaints, saying “The cuffs are my favorite part, since they are soft, strong, and can be used with other toys.” I think what makes these my Beginner Friendly pick is how quick and easy they are to use, from the moment they are taken out of the packaging, to being used in full swing. Simple strap them to your wrists, throw the weights over the door, close the door and have fun! They are also adjustable in length, so if you’re too short, just make them longer! No need to be dangerously standing on a stool or anything…

Why I Chose It
These Sportsheets Door Jam Cuffs are relatively plain and simple, hence why they are the cuff set that are my budget option! Each cuff has its’ own strap and barbell, which can be placed over the top of the door and used to put your sub in their place. The barbells on these cuffs are plastic, which shouldn’t be much of an issue (as they’re not intended to support weight). However, it does mean that these over the door restraints lack the more premium feeling compared to wooden or metal barbells.
Still, that’s a very minor complaint. Overall, these cuffs are a simple and convenient solution for over the door bondage on the go. If you have $30 and want to experiment, these are an excellent option! This design allows the wearer to decide how far their arms will be spread and therefore be fairly comfortable (or, at least, as comfortable as you want them to be!). The length of the straps cannot be adjusted, but the tightness of the cuffs themselves is easily customizable with the velcro fastening.
Ideal for both beginner and intermediate users, the soft fabric provides some cushiony-y comfort during your kinky session! I think the velcro fastening and the soft cuffs make them super approachable for all levels of experience. Our tester Cassie said “I love that they’re super easy to use, can be moderately adjusted in terms of placement, and are a very affordable option!”

Finding the Right Type of Over-The-Door Restraints for You
There are a few different factors you should consider when trying to find the perfect set of over door restraints. I suggest starting with your intended use:
Heavy duty: If you are looking for restraints that are going to hold a decent weight or be sturdy enough for the type of sex you are planning to have, make sure the straps are thick and that the cuffs are strong enough to hold your wrists.
Level of security: Are you more into soft or hard BDSM? If you are into softer, then cuffs that use velcro should do just fine, otherwise you would be better off choosing buckle cuffs or even cuffs that padlock close.
Visual design: How the cuffs look may be your biggest turn on, of which you then should pick coloured or well designed cuffs – perhaps a mix of leather and metal to remain on theme with the BDSM look.
Experience Sensational Suspension with Over The Door Sex Swings!

Want to Make Your Own Over The Door Restraints at Home?
It’s possible to make your own over the door restraints at home, though it may not be worth the effort. Still, if you’re determined, I suggest gathering a few different materials. You’ll need—at minimum—some nylon webbing, D-rings, and rope. Using these items, you could make basic, minimalist restraints.
However, if you wanted to make something a bit more similar to the commercial products, you’d likely also want to pick up some tubing (to use as the door barbells). I’d suggest also picking up some fabric to wrap the barbells in, as this will reduce any potential noise.
Although it will take a bit, with a bit of creativity, it is possible to make your own over the door restraints at home!
