Oxy Rainbow Silk Kinbaku Bondage Rope Review
My Verdict
The Silk Kinbaku Rope from Oxy is a great choice for beginner rope users. It is lightweight and will travel well. The fiber is well-suited for harnesses, cages, gags, and decorative ties. The price point makes this a really good option for practice ropes as well.

Personal Experience
Color Wow
I was so impressed when I opened the box for my Rainbow Color Silk Kinbaku Rope. The rainbow colors are so beautiful and vibrant, and in the next layer of the box was a lovely pastel-colored rope. I squealed a little when I got to the bottom of the box and found that Oxy had kindly included a pair of safety scissors. They are something I need on hand a lot, so obviously I can’t find the pair I have! Having an extra pair is going to be so useful, but is something you will have to buy separately if you purchase the rope yourself.Tied Up In Comfort
I have only used thicker and coarser rope up until now. I was a little hesitant about using rope that is lighter and thinner than what I’m used to, but I have been won over! This rope is so soft on my skin. It was so comfortable that I actually forgot I had it on at times. This might not be something everyone enjoys, but I appreciated not being distracted by the feeling of the rope. I created a ‘flower harness’ with this rope. The colors were perfect for these knots and created a really cohesive look.Pattern Distraction
If I had to find anything wrong with this rope it would be the color variations. The rainbow colors are beautiful to look at, but it made it a little difficult to figure out where all my ends were while creating the knots. The variations got a little distracting and were visually hard to look at while trying to concentrate. The way the ends come tied as well made it harder to pull everything through as they are tied off with big knots. It didn’t stall the knot-making for long, though!Design
The Kinbaku rope is a beautiful color and so much softer than other rope I have used. This is silk rope so it has a bit of stretch. Anyone looking to do suspensions or really firm ties might want to consider a different material. Fibers are often chosen in shibari because they cause friction, which helps keep ties together. The silk rope will have looser knots. This is a great choice for decorative tying, it won't hold as firm as something like jute or hemp, but it is beautiful and soft for decorative ties.
Ease of Use
The rope was ready to go as soon as I opened the packaging. Both colors of rope were extremely easy to bend, knot, tie, and manipulate. The variegated colors made some of the process a little difficult. A lot of tying involves being able to follow the route the rope is taking in order to secure knots. The changing colors made it visually hard to follow where the rope was going. This stalled the rope-tying process often.
Quality
This bondage rope is soft, light, and durable. I enjoyed the feel of this rope more against my skin compared to hemp ropes I've used. The colors are stunning and didn't rub off as my body heat increased. While there was a little stretch in the rope, I wasn't concerned anything would come undone until I wanted it to. In fact, I was able to finish cooking dinner while I was wearing this rope.
Price
I honestly can't believe how great the price is for this rope. I have spent $80-$100 on rope before, so this Kinbaku rope is so completely worth the money. It's cheap enough that beginners won't feel like they are blowing money on something they may not like, and high quality enough that advanced tiers wouldn't mind placing their money frequently into this company.
Performance
This rope performed exactly as I wanted it to. It kept its shape no matter what sort of movement I was doing in it. It exceeded my expectations in comfort. I had it on for at least an hour and even forgot it was tied to me at some points. That's how comfortable this rope is!
Packaging
The packaging is discreet, as promised on Oxy's website. It is very no-nonsense, no-frills packaging. I would have liked some care instructions included, but I did find some on the website after some digging. However, I needed to make an additional searches to try and find out how my rope was processed in order to figure out what care it might need.
Materials and care
The Kinbaku rope is hypo-allergenic, soft, and lightweight. The rope is easy to clean with just a little warm water and gentle soap. Bamboo silk does not need to be oiled. Store your rope in an area away from dust and environmental debris. It is suggested that you loosely coil your rope for storage.
