- Wrist loop
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Makes a great sound
- ✅ Elegant design
- ✅ Great for all levels of experience
- ✅ Good value for money
Cons
- ❌ Quite bulky
- ❌ Not as long-lasting as real leather
Why I Chose It
I chose the Saffron Loop Paddle as the best spanking paddle as, out of all the ones we’ve tested, it is the best all-rounder that I would happily recommend for most spanking purposes!
Cassie, took the Loop Paddle for spin and was a big fan, so much so, it got a perfect 5/5 star review! This paddle impressed her in terms of “aesthetics, functionality, performance, and price!”
She really liked that “the type of sensations upon impact differ depending on the intensity,” allowing for light and thuddy or hard and stingy impacts, depending on the mood.
The other great thing about the paddle is the noise it makes on impact! She found that the “extra layer of material to create some volume with every smack” so each swing creates thrilling crack that ups the ante!
All that and the paddle is very inexpensive. Cassie was “positively surprised by the quality of the paddle compared to it’s relative budget-friendly price range!”
Runner Up Lovehoney Premium Faux Leather Paddle

Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Sleek, elegant design
- ✅ Feels high-quality
- ✅ Comes with a guide on BDSM safety
Cons
- ❌ A little pricey
- ❌ Wrist loop too small to use
Why I Chose It
I think Lovehoney have really hit the nail on the head when it comes to sleek, sexy design with this paddle. Our tester, Jesse really agrees!
He “didn’t quite expect it to be such good quality” and was “very impressed by how sexy it looks.”
Both Jesse and his partner were also impressed the impact, commenting that the shape and size “distributes the impact really well” and “you can really get a good whip on it due to the flexibility.”
As any good spanking paddle should, it makes “a fantastic slapping sound on impact” — great for keeping the spankee on their toes!
They also really appreciated that even though it was vegan leather, it still “feels very luxurious.”
The only real complaint Jesse had was that the wrist loop was too small to use. He also pointed out that this paddle is best if you already have a little impact play experience, which I would definitely agree with.
Best for Beginners Sportsheets Saffron Ping Pong Paddle
- Large, round paddle
- Vegan leather
- Wrist loop
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Great for spanking large areas
- ✅ Sturdy
- ✅ Great for soft and hard thwacks
Cons
- ❌ Handle could use some texture for grip
- ❌ Wide handle can be uncomfortable
Why I Chose It
“I love this product so much that I bought one for my partner so he would have his own paddle to play with.”
It’s safe to say, our tester Sarah, was happy with the Saffron Ping Pong Paddle! As well as her overwhelmingly positive review, I chose it as the best spanking paddle for beginner because the sturdy design and large surface make it nice and easy to use.
The Ping Pong Paddle was “so beautiful” she almost didn’t want to use it! But, luckily for us, she did! She found Sportsheet’s description of a ‘sensual swat’ very accurate and enjoyed the “lasting sensation” after a good spanking session.
Overall, she found it very easy to use, but did wish the handle was a little more ergonomic to hold.
Where possible, I try to recommend products that are a bit less expensive for beginners, as you don’t know if a type of toy will work for you before you try it. This is another reason I picked this paddle as my beginner option! Sarah also thought the price was “is very reasonable” for the quality and durability of the paddle!
Most Advanced Tantus Thwack Spanking Paddle
- Made completely of silicone
- Thick paddle for heavy impact
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Great for more intense play
- ✅ Very stingy
- ✅ Easy to clean and sterilize
Cons
- ❌ Handle is uncomfortable
- ❌ Easy to go too hard
- ❌ No wrist loop
Why I Chose It
I had the pleasure (and pain) of reviewing, and being on the receiving end of, the Tantus Thwack and let me tell you, this thing is intense! I love that it’s made of silicone as it’s super easy to clean and creates a very powerful slap.
The paddle section is quite thick and flexible and has quite a bit of weight behind it so you really don’t need to use a lot of force to make a big impact. The smooth silicone also has a very stingy sensation.
In my experience, the bigger surface area is fantastic for slaps on the butt but a bit big and heavy for any other areas.
My only small complaint is that the handle is not super comfortable to hold. It’s thick and flat and the edges aren’t rounded so it digs in to your hand a little.
Best Hard Paddle Sportsheets Saffron Acrylic Spanker
- Rigid acrylic spanker
- 13 holes to reduce air resistance
- Wrist loop
Specifications
Pros
- ✅ Great for hard strokes
- ✅ Leaves hole imprints on skin
- ✅ Makes a great sound
- ✅ Easy to clean
Cons
- ❌ Handle could be stronger
- ❌ Looks a little basic
- ❌ Handle is not ergonomic
Why I Chose It
This rigid acrylic paddle from Sportsheets offers some more severe spanking! Anna tested it out for us and found out first hand just how powerful it can be when she tried it out on her partners.
She was “impressed with how much power” she could deliver without too much effort thanks to the cut out holes. She also loved “the sound it makes as it whooshes through air” and that it “resound[s] powerfully” on impact!
Another fun feature is that it can leave behind some small circle imprints, so you can admire your handy work!
She did comment that it didn’t have the most luxurious look but that didn’t detract from the overall experience.
Much like the Tantus Thwack, I would recommend this to those with a bit more spanking and impact play experience.

Which is the Right Spanking Paddle For You?
- If you are looking for the thuddiest spanking paddle, I recommend the Saffron Ping Pong Paddle as it’s a little softer and has a broader area.
- If you prefer a very stingy sensation, check out the Tantus Thwack as the thick silicone leaves quite a sting!
- If you want to make, and leave, an impression on your partner, take a look at the Sportsheets Acrylic Spanker, as the little cut outs leave fun little marks on the behind!
Thuddy vs Stingy Impacts With Different Spanking Paddles
It’s a good idea to determine if you or your sub enjoy “thuddy” or “stingy” impacts more, as this will affect your kinky sex toy options.
“Thuddy” impacts are deep, widespread sensations that can penetrate into the skin: they feel similar to being punched in the leg!
“Stingy” sensations, on the other hand, are sharp, localized sensations that are felt only on the surface only: think of being poked with a needle!
It’s essential to figure out what sensations your partner prefers (especially if you’re a newbie and need some guidance on BDSM for beginners), as most people have a preference.
If your partner isn’t into it then it’s no good.
You certainly don’t want to waste money on a toy you’ll never use so do the research before: just ask!
Popular Spanking Paddle Materials
Spanking paddles can be made from a wide variety of materials, but we’ve covered the most common options below.
Refer to this list when trying to figure out what type of material would work best for you & your partner!
- Satin/Fabric – These paddles tend to deliver “thuddy” hits, but can also provide “semi-stingy” sensations if swung correctly. They’re gentle compared to most other paddle materials.
- Leather/Faux Leather – The sensation depends on the design. If your paddle is made purely of leather/faux leather then the sensation will sting more. However, just like with floggers, thicker leather will deliver more of a “thuddy” sensation. If your paddle contains a core—such as wood—that’s only wrapped in leather (as opposed to being made of purely leather/faux leather) the impacts will be deeper, rather than sharper.
- Silicone – This material is very stingy, but that’s not all: it’s also able to be sterilized, which is important if you plan on using it with multiple partners!
- Wood – Sensations vary, depending on the type of wood used. Heavier wood will be “thuddy”, whereas lighter wood will be more “stingy”.
- Acrylic – These paddles can deliver quite a sting, although the final sensation will depend on the design of the paddle.
- Faux Fur – Soft to the touch and gentle on impact, these paddles won’t deliver a lot of punishment (but the sensations that they do deliver will be on the “thuddy” side!).
How to Choose a Spanking Paddle
Do you love impact play? Maximise your experience by getting the best spanking paddle possible.
When shopping for a spanking paddle, there are a number of factors you need to consider.
Check out the list below to find out everything you need to know to make sure you give (or receive) exactly what you deserve…
Experience
First and foremost, think about what stage you are at.
If you’re a newbie you’ll want a softer, less powerful paddle to give you the chance to experiment and discover what turns you on the most, as well as how to use a paddle correctly.
More advanced?
Then you are free to go all out with hardcore options.
Material
Spanking paddles are made from all kinds of materials, including: faux leather, silicone, wood, perspex, and more.
Each has its own particular feel. Leather for example, is softer and more flexible, than wood.
Perspex and silicone can give a severe sting and leave a mark.
Soft textures such as satin or faux-fur are good for caressing and soothing sore skin.
Shape and Size
The size and shape of your paddle can really make a difference.
A larger, wider paddle area disperses any force over a wider area, so is generally less painful.
A long, thin smacking paddle however, provide much more sting and ramp up the pain. Paddles with holes in reduce air resistance, increasing ease of use and force.
Regular Paddle vs Paddle with Holes
As with pretty much anything else in this world, opinions vary when it comes to comparing regular paddles to paddles with holes. Generally though, a “regular” paddle is thought of as more beginner-friendly. Since these paddles are solid, you’ll feel a bit of air resistance when swinging them.
This resistance results in slightly slower swings, meaning a marginally reduced impact. The complete surface also results in a uniform pressure upon impact, which is a bit different from a paddle with holes.
When using a paddle with holes, you’ll be able to swing the toy faster and harder due to less air resistance (this makes it easier to handle). The non-uniform surface also means that certain parts of the paddle will sting more than others. For this reason, we’d recommend using a regular paddle before upgrading to a paddle with holes.
